Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most commonly asked questions from families across Melbourne's eastern suburbs about our swim programs, locations and enrolment.

Every child is different.  The time it takes to learn to swim depends on factors like age at which lessons start, how often your child swims, their natural comfort in the water and individual development. Children who start younger and attend regularly tend to progress more quickly. What we can promise is structured, clear progressions through our levels with instructors ensuring every swimmer moves forward at the right pace for them. Holiday programs are a great way to accelerate progress during school breaks.

You can start swimming lessons as young as 3 months old. Out baby and toddler program is specifically designed for children from 3 months of age to 3 years and focuses on gentle water familiarisation, water safety awareness and building a positive relationship with the water from an early age. Research consistently shows that early and regular exposure to water significantly reduces the risk of drowning and builds lifelong water confidence. There is not wrong time to start, even adults who have never swum can begin with us.

Yes. Our baby swimming lessons are gentle, with a parent in the water and no forced submersions. Lessons focus on comfort, bonding, confidence and water safety.

Yes. Our pools are heated all year round, making swimming lessons comfortable for all ages especially important for babies and young children. Our Blackburn location features a heated indoor mineral pool which is also particularly gentle for swimmers with sensitive skin, eczema or skin conditions.

Absolutely. Our adult learn to swim program in Melbourne welcomes complete beginners of all ages. Many adults come to us having never learned to swim, or having lost confidence in the water over the years. Our instructors are experienced in teaching adults and create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Adult lessons are grouped by ability, so you will always swim alongside others at a similar stage. Its never too late to learn, and water safety is a skill everyone benefits from.

Yes! We run holiday swim intensive programs for ages 3 to 17 years during Melbourne’s school holiday periods. These daily lessons are an excellent way to accelerate progress, consolidate skills learned during term, or get started if your child hasn’t yet begun lessons. Holiday intensives often result in noticeable improvement within a single week, making them particularly popular with families whose children are close to moving up a level.

Yes! Our philosophy is to encourage mainstream classes with adaptations for those who can manage and we also run private classes for kids who need 1:1 learning. We recommend our private pool facilities for kids who experience sensory overload as they are quieter.
