Surrey Park’s squads are structured to cater for swimmers of all levels and ability. There is a pathway for each swimmer, when ready, to progress to the next appropriate squad. Progression within the Club squad program is at the discretion of the squad coach and will be discussed with both swimmers and parents.
High Performance Squad
Coach: Justin Bell
- Preparation for Open National level competition;
- Swimmers are aged 18 years and over;
- Entry to this squad is by invitation;
- 9 pool sessions per week;
- Specialised strength and conditioning program;
High Performance Transition Squad

- Preparation for Open and Age National level competition;
- Swimmers are aged 17 years and over;
- Entry to this squad is by invitation;

National Age Performance Squad

- Preparation to compete in both pool and open water competitons at State and National levels;
- Swimmers are generally aged 16 years and over;
- 10 sessions per week;

Junior Advanced
- Advanced Junior swimmers
- Preparation for relevant Club, District and State competitions;
- 4 sessions per week;
- Swimmers who train with Surrey Park’s club squads are required to join the Club as a “swimmer” member
Junior Intermediate
- Intermediate Junior swimmers
- Proficient in all 4 strokes;
- Enhance water competency
- 3 sessions per week;
- Swimmers who train with Surrey Park’s club squads are required to join the Club as a “swimmer” member
Junior Beginner
- Refinement of stroke technique;
- Develop water competency;
- 2 sessions per week;
- Swimmers who train with Surrey Park’s club squads are required to join the Club as a “swimmer” member
At the end of each of the major competition cycles each season (Victorian Short Course Championships (September), Victorian Long Course Championships (December) and National Age Championships (April), swimmers in all squads will be assessed by the coaching staff to identify which squad is appropriate for them for the next cycle.
