At Surrey Park we believe that it is never too late to learn to swim and that as adults it is as important as ever to be confident, competent and safe in the water. Maybe you would like to jump in the pool but swimming and water safety are skills you have not previously had the opportunity to learn. Maybe you are a parent or grandparent wanting more confidence in participating in your child’s water activities or development as a swimmer. Or perhaps you are already an experienced swimmer but want to take the opportunity to improve technique with other swimmers of similar ability.

Perhaps also you want – or need – to take to the water for health reasons. There has been significant research into the many health and wellbeing benefits of swimming as we get older. It is easy to appreciate the cardio vascular and respiratory / breathing benefits of swimming. Equally important are benefits for people with longer term health conditions, particularly problems with joints and muscles. The weight supporting, low impact properties of water are unique and mean that no one is restricted from taking part in water based activities.
No matter what the motivation, at Surrey Park, confidence, skill development and water safety are fundamental to the classes we have designed to meet the unique needs of adult swimmers. So whether it is fitness and health, participation, or simply to have the confidence to enjoy the pleasures of water, at Surrey Park we have it covered!
level progression
Our adult swimming lessons will cater to your goals. Please ensure you speak with your teacher about the following at your first lesson to ensure you get the most out of your classes
- What are your goals for the lessons?
- What swimming skills do you wish to target and improve?

This will ensure you and your teacher are on the same page about your hopes and dreams for your swimming lessons. As a rough guide, we cover the following skills for each level below:
