It was great to see so many of our learn to swim and competitive swimmers come together to practice and develop their racing skills.
Twilight Tuesday Racing provides an opportunity for swimmers from Learn To Swim level 3 upwards through to the Club’s Junior and State Development Squads to be introduced to racing and to practice and develop their skills in a fun, nurturing environment. It is held in the outdoor pool at Aqualink Box Hill every 2nd Tuesday during Term 1 and Term 4 and starts at 4.30pm
Tuesday 20th December saw the Term 4 Twilight Tuesday Series come to a close with the fifth and final session. This time around, there were 50m individual events plus some 25m ones for lower level Learn to Swim students. These were followed by some fun relays, mixing up and involving swimmers at all levels. After the swimming there was a sausage sizzle for all to enjoy.
In all about 80 swimmers spread across State Development and Junior Squads, plus the Surrey Park’s Learn to Swim levels participated over Term 4 including siblings of current Club members. The Tuesday night Development squads came out and swam 50m freestyle a couple of times and the swimmers transitioning to Junior at the end of Term 4 were encouraged to attend.

Many thanks to those parents who assisted by timekeeping each week.
Special thanks to Sarah for her work behind the scenes producing the program beforehand and keying in the times afterwards to the results could be published.
Thanks also to Tom, Sarah, Mun and Lucy who shared the duties of marshalling, starting the races and providing feedback to the swimmers before and after their races.
Twilight Tuesdays will resume in 2017 on 7th February. It would be great to again have good number of swimmers in attendance.
Term 1 dates are: 7th and 21st February, 7th and 21st March. Sign up for Club members and their siblings is through the Surrey Park website; others can sign up at Surrey Park reception.
